Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Mexico's Joel Gaona started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A hard shot 9 in the game by Lautaro Mancebo from a close distance when the talented Evelio Antoniano managed to make a qualified save. Criciúma Esporte Clube's players were relieved. If Paulo Laurentzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evelio Antoniano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 24th minute of the match. Evelio Antoniano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 27th minute of play. In the 34th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Antoniano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 35th minute. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 40th minute of play. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Evelio Antoniano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bieito Villaurreta made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Felix Luque got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Dante Lacasa was a little too slow when Bieito Villaurreta got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bieito Villaurreta got free with Dante Lacasa in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 62 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bieito Villaurreta. Paulo Laurentzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulo Laurentzi's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Evelio Antoniano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Evelio Antoniano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 74th minute of play. Macos Graciani hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Criciúma Esporte Clube's Bieito Villaurreta got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Mexico booed when Criciúma Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaztea Regalado didn't get a good kick on the ball.
