Erubiel Hernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Domingos Iaki sent off a good shot on target. After 13 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erubiel Hernandez was left in no man's land by his defense there! 17 minutes into the match, Departamento 912's Gervasio Vela sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Peru booed when Departamento 912 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peru's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
