With his leg Dante Lacasa managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Atlético Maravilla's Quentin Gonzalez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leopoldo de Queiroz's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Atlético Maravilla's Zarando Lastras played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 29th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Quentin Gonzalez got free with Dante Lacasa in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zarando Lastras having to interfere. In the 42nd minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zarando Lastras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Joel Gaona got a free kick in the 46th minute. Anders Söderlund struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Dante Lacasa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético Maravilla. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Quentin Gonzalez was the one to do the kick off. Zarando Lastras was a little too slow when Alberto Tafalla got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 2-1. Lautaro Mancebo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Zarando Lastras having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Herminio March during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 64th minute, Herminio March hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zarando Lastras didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto Tafalla went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 80th minute of play forced Atlético Maravilla's goalkeeper Zarando Lastras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
