Severino Capixaba hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, XV de Piracicaba's Murillo Trigo got a free kick in the 31st minute. Fonso Zotillo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 34th minute of play. In the 39th minute Venezuela were awarded a corner. Tomas Illescas went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Patricio Costa almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but XV de Piracicaba's Fonso Zotillo did a great save. In the 41st minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. XV de Piracicaba's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Tomas Illescas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but XV de Piracicaba's Fonso Zotillo did a great save. 42 minutes into the game, Murillo Trigo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. XV de Piracicaba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. After a rather tough play, XV de Piracicaba's Murillo Trigo got a free kick in the 42nd minute. In the 43rd minute Joshua Secada suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Murillo Trigo was shown his second yellow card after 44 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
