Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lorenzo Aimar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 14 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Fernando Abarca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Fernando Abarca in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Cougars FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Belarmo didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Cougars FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Bonifacio Valerio hit a great ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After a rather tough play, Cougars FC's Fernando Belarmo got a free kick in the 85th minute. Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
