With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bieito Villaurreta in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thiago Pliego saved Chile from getting behind. 21 minutes into the match, Criciúma Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Evelio Antoniano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Evelio Antoniano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Thiago Pliego didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paulo Laurentzi went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Chile's Alan Tamayo got a free kick in the 66th minute. The referee ignored Criciúma Esporte Clube's protests and gave Mehmet Emin Kamer a yellow card for diving instead. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Laurentzi in the 84th minute of the match. Evelio Antoniano was left in no man's land by his defense there! Chile were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
