Samim Akbudun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Noboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute, CİMBOM FC's Bumin Şahinter seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Bumin Şahinter the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of CİMBOM FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Bumin Şahinter had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in CİMBOM FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Costa Rica a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Axel Tasis, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of CİMBOM FC's Samim Akbudun. 0-2. After 46 played minutes CİMBOM FC got a freekick which was hit by Korkutalp Naşit. After the first half Costa Rica were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Costa Rica booed when CİMBOM FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. İlhami Beybolat didn't get a good kick on the ball. The tension between the Costa Rica and the CİMBOM FC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
