Joshua Garrido had several of the Stellenbosch's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 37 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Pedro Pelayo as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 46th match minute, Stellenbosch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mao Zhen to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

After a rather tough play, Stellenbosch's Juan Fernando Quinteros got a free kick in the 69th minute. Juan Fernando Quinteros kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Pedro Pelayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abram Secada in the 73rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ignacio Mastache's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedro Pelayo was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Abram Secada blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Pelayo having to make a save. Stellenbosch's Pedro Pelayo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Secada in the 92nd minute of play. After some careless play in the Stellenbosch defense, Abram Secada kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Pelayo. The Stellenbosch fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Pelayo should have stopped the shot. Osvaldo Bernat came free with the goalkeeper in the 98th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Pedro Manzanares could save by the left post.
