The audience thought a goal was coming when Denizhan Ünüvar got free with Emilio Shepherd in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Shi Guo Wen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wessel Bos in the 15th minute of the match. Pan Xiang Kuan hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After 27 played minutes En avant de guingamp got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carlos Almeida. In the 30th minute Ni Jun Liang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilio Shepherd saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pan Xiang Kuan made in the 32nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Xu Xing Ming. Wessel Bos might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Shi Guo Wen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wessel Bos ran back to his position shaking his head. En avant de guingamp's Shi Guo Wen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wessel Bos in the 33rd minute of play. Emilio Shepherd made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Antônio Carlos Almeida sent off a good shot on target. Emilio Shepherd was a little too slow when Ni Jun Liang got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 1-1. Emilio Shepherd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ni Jun Liang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of En avant de guingamp booed when KN ZGORZELEC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Luís Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ni Jun Liang made the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes KN ZGORZELEC got a freekick which was hit by Luis María Ogazón. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emilio Shepherd showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 58th minute, Antônio Carlos Almeida left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The En avant de guingamp fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. KN ZGORZELEC made a substitution. Eugeniusz Kociniewski replaced Gilbert Gotfryd. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
