In the 23rd minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mert Günok saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cassius Byrne struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Mert Günok didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for USA. Mert Günok made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 30th minute of play. In the 34th minute Jarkko Laatikainen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, Futbol Sevenler Kulübü's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Edward Mcdonald fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Özgür Özbek, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Özgür Özbek to make the kick off.
