Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Julian Murillo started the match with the kick off. In the 6th match minute, Gremio Viana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augustin Panaiteanu to maneuver through the defense. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Paredes in the 17th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Joaquim Paredes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Rolando Noboa, 2-0. In the 25th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Samuel Fiúza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Samuel Fiúza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquim Paredes in the 38th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Samuel Fiúza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joaquim Paredes got free with Rolando Noboa in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joaquim Paredes made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 54th minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Moises Gayoso in the 56th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Gremio Viana's Augustin Panaiteanu. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joaquim Paredes in the 57th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Gremio Viana's Severino Torcato got a free kick in the 64th minute. 73 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luz Tejedor. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 75th minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Peru booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabrizio Crognale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gremio Viana's Antonio Calisto was substituted for Tony Påk. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emmanuel Reyes in the 81st minute of play. Gremio Viana's Samuel Fiúza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luz Tejedor in the 84th minute of play. If Luz Tejedor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. In the 89th minute Carlos Luna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gremio Viana's Samuel Fiúza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Gremio Viana from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew the final whistle, Gremio Viana could leave the field as winners, despite Peru having more of the ball for most of the match.
