Luis Andino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Attilio Proia having to make a save. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Attilio Proia having to interfere. 45 minutes into the game, Ciccio Nazzari was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FataMorgana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. A collision led to FataMorgana getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Ciccio Nazzari hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ciccio Nazzari was the one to do the kick off. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Attilio Proia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FataMorgana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Fantasia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Attilio Proia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 56th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Attilio Proia in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Attilio Proia. Attilio Proia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After 71 minutes FataMorgana's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Attilio Proia in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 72nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. FataMorgana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montes to fire away a dangerous shot which Attilio Proia despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciccio Nazzari in the 75th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Attilio Proia, 0-4. Attilio Proia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FataMorgana throughout the match.
