In the 11thth minute of the game Hugo Lucian who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 15 minutes into the game, Caldebrazza's Hugo Lucian nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Alessandro Linares made a huge save. Zé Roberto Moreno kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xavier Sabrosa in the 24th minute of play. Xavier Sabrosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Joaquin Gayoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Maximiliano Escribano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Caldebrazza booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximiliano Escribano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xavier Sabrosa in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Uruguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luís Paulo Faria was slow to take the kick. During this time Caldebrazza's players had a chance to rest. 0-3 became the score in the 41st minute when Hugo Lucian elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 45th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Seco to maneuver through the defense. After 46 played minutes Caldebrazza got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Sabrosa. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Lucian in the 49th minute of play. The Uruguay players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Caldebrazza were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hugo Lucian made a kick off. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Alessandro Linares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Zé Roberto Moreno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hugo Lucian came free with the goalkeeper in the 63rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Joaquin Gayoso could save by the left post. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when Caldebrazza's Hugo Lucian fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Róbson Cearense hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. In the 70th minute, Jaime Cazalla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Xavier Sabrosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 79th minute, Hugo Lucian ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Linares having to interfere. Hugo Lucian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hugo Lucian's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 91stth minute, Joaquin Gayoso skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Alessandro Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Caldebrazza eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
