Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laércio Penha in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A nice corner shot did that Andrézinho Vaz got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rolando Noboa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Julian Murillo took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mickaël Maris. Mickaël Maris dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 22 minutes into the game, Emmanuel Reyes threw the ball into play from the sideline. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Laércio Penha quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Ovidio Marko made in the 26th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Edu Vaz however managed to control. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luz Tejedor in the 36th minute of the match. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nova Iguaçu MZFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Alonso Berganza almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris did a great save. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mickaël Maris was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 60th minute of play. 66 minutes into the game, Alonso Berganza threw the ball into play from the sideline. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Edu Vaz quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 69th minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickaël Maris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mickaël Maris made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 72nd minute. Moises Gayosos short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Mickaël Maris to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Mickaël Maris stood somewhat misplaced when Moises Gayoso came free in front of goal and shot 0-2 to the left of him in the 73 minute. In the 77th minute Laércio Penha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 81st minute of play. In the 81st minute, Peru's Luz Tejedor ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mickaël Maris. Mickaël Maris yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Heitor Ferreira kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute Milagros Fraga suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Edu Vaz charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edu Vaz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Edu Vaz hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Eliseo Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Mina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mickaël Maris breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
