With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adriano Penha saved Jumentus from getting behind. After having played for 23 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hélio Corrêa, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The throw-in from Nicholas Dalen in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Venezuela's Alex Chicote. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Hélio Corrêa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Adriano Penha in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jumentus's Wambasther Ferdinand was substituted for Glauco Faria. 90 minutes had been played when some careless play by Jumentus's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Jumentus's goalie and right to Joshua Secada. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Jumentus's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Jumentus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luisão Mota didn't get a good kick on the ball. 94 minutes into the game, Nicholas Dalen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jumentus's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Jumentus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicholas Dalen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Despite being the better team, Jumentus failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
