Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Celsinho Capixaba. Celsinho Capixaba dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Cafu Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 17th match minute, Vila Nova GO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horácio Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. 19 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when João Vítor Souto came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 25 minutes into the match, Daniel Marquez notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Cristian Favoretto. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Marquez in the 33rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Celsinho Capixaba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Vila Nova GO's Cristian Favoretto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Vila Nova GO's Horácio Corrêa seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Horácio Corrêa the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Vila Nova GO protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Horácio Corrêa had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After a rather tough play, Vila Nova GO's Horácio Corrêa got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 55th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luís Guilherme Guedes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Betinho Meireles came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Vila Nova GO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betinho Meireles couldn't finish the play. Celsinho Capixaba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 85th minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Ecuador players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
