A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. In the 21st minute 赵桑适 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by 赵桑适 in the 24th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
