When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Michalis Savouras took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Jonathan Ferrant to make any attempt to save it. Christos Vidalis took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John Ibaute in the 19th minute of play. John Ibaute could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when John Ibaute got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 30th minute. The score was now 3-1. When Tomas Illescas got free in front of the goal in the 35th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Miltiadis Panagoulias was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. When the match clock showed 37 minutes, the score became 4-1 when John Ibaute sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 42nd minute of play forced Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Miltiadis Panagoulias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 44 in the game by John Ibaute from a close distance when the talented Jonathan Ferrant managed to make a qualified save. Venezuela's players were relieved. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Christos Vidalis sent off a good shot on target. Olympiacos FC made a substitution. Christian Ashford replaced Christos Vidalis. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and John Ibaute made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, John Ibaute stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and John Ibaute tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of John Ibaute's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. In the 60th minute, John Ibaute ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. In the 64th minute, Hafiz Abou Adal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Venezuela's attentive Jonathan Venegas managed to snatch the ball when Vassilis Vouzas made a throw-in in the 66th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling John Ibaute in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John Ibaute in the 79th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Michalis Savouras stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Michalis Savouras tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, Venezuela's Miltiadis Panagoulias threw himself towards the right post 82 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Patricio Costa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee felt a red card was in order, 87 minutes into the game, when Vassilis Kouzoulidis put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Olympiacos FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 86th minute. Penalty! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Miltiadis Panagoulias saved Olympiacos FC from getting behind. In the 97th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 99th minute of the match, but Miltiadis Panagoulias made a huge save. The supporters of Olympiacos FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 100 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that Olympiacos FC were the better team. Olympiacos FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
