Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Emanuele Travaglini hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michael Scofield in the 14th minute of play. Fausto De Marchi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agustín Saelices went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Luca Toni tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Frabetti, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luca Toni got free with Julio Vera in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 30th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto De Marchi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fausto De Marchi came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Daniel Zorita scored 2-3 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fausto De Marchi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michael Scofield in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. After 51 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fausto De Marchi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Agustín Saelices showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-5. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luca Toni in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto De Marchi having to interfere. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michael Scofield, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute.
