FC COSA NOSTRA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Deividas Tarailis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 36 minutes into the game, when Gilberto Saraiva put in a rough tackle. After 35 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Marzagão! Pedro Luís Fernandez had in the 37thth minute some difficulties stopping Alfredas Malakauskas's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the Marzagão defense, Alfredas Malakauskas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Luís Fernandez. The Marzagão fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Luís Fernandez should have stopped the shot. If Algirdas Brazauskas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Algirdas Brazauskas in the 43rd minute of play forced Marzagão's goalkeeper Pedro Luís Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabiano de Queiroz's late challenge caught a FC COSA NOSTRA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
