Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when 陆西迅 sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerry Lawler in the 13th minute of the match. If Jerry Lawler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 17th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omar Duardo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after Vancouver Reds's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Luis Andino made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Vancouver Reds's Omar Duardo managed to reach the ball for a save. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerry Lawler in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vancouver Reds's Omar Duardo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play. After 40 played minutes Vancouver Reds got a freekick which was hit by Róbson Queirós. After a rather tough play, Vancouver Reds's Cameron Leary got a free kick in the 46th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Omar Duardo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. With a little luck, Vancouver Reds's Omar Duardo got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Omar Duardo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Felix Montenegro's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Omar Duardo firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 60th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. Vancouver Reds's Macnelly Torres was substituted for 陆西迅. After 62 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Sancho. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerry Lawler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 65 minutes into the match, Vancouver Reds's goalkeeper Omar Duardo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Omar Duardo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luis Andino went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Salvador Tate, 75 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Omar Duardo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 80 minutes, Jerry Lawler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vancouver Reds's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerry Lawler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Macnelly Torres in the 83rd minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerry Lawler in the 86th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
