When Alan Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alan Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Magnus Björkqvist tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 15th minute. Onsala Ass Kickers's Magnus Björkqvist got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Magnus Björkqvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Carballo to maneuver through the defense. 24 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Onsala Ass Kickers the free kick. The supporters of Onsala Ass Kickers booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 26 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Walter Jönsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Onsala Ass Kickers's supporters rose to their feet, but Walter Jönsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Magnus Björkqvist's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Mikael Alebäck hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viggo Billing in the 44th minute of play. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Walter Jönsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Onsala Ass Kickers's Åke Biörkquist pulled a muscle in his leg after 51 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Magnus Björkqvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Efrain Moruga made in the 54th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eliseo Noboa. Magnus Björkqvist's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. After having played for 60 minutes, Magnus Björkqvist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Onsala Ass Kickers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Magnus Björkqvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Rickard Wiklund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Axel Tasis got free with Rickard Wiklund in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomas Fagerberg hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 78th minute of play forced Onsala Ass Kickers's goalkeeper Rickard Wiklund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alan Moruga was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 80 minutes into the match. After having played for 81 minutes, Johannes Målare managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Onsala Ass Kickers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Johannes Målare was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Magnus Björkqvist in the 87th minute of the match. After 87 minutes of play, Onsala Ass Kickers's Magnus Björkqvist made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball.
