Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club A. Independiente. In the 8th match minute, Club A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Pacifico to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Club A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andres Ishmael didn't get a good kick on the ball. Epifanio Havier came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Paraguay's Jaime Pardo. But to his dismay, Jaime Pardo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 14 minutes into the game, Club A. Independiente's Andres Ishmael nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacobo Nores made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Epifanio Havier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 18th minute of play. Raul Venegas hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Severino Eneto kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Club A. Independiente's Saverio Astigar got a free kick in the 31st minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jaime Pardo to strike the kick off in the second half. Rolando Victoro kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 55th match minute, Club A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Venancio Mirande to maneuver through the defense. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andres Ishmael in the 57th minute of play. After 68 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Raul Venegas. After 69 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Paraguay! After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Severino Eneto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Severino Eneto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andres Ishmael in the 91st minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Club A. Independiente's Severino Eneto got a free kick in the 92nd minute. If Andres Ishmael had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 98th minute Andres Ishmael shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
