Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silverio Tuste in the 4th minute of the match. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Alex Chicote hit a great ball. If Silverio Tuste had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silverio Tuste, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 13 minutes, Silverio Tuste managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newells Old Boys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silverio Tuste was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Silverio Tuste scored 0-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Silverio Tuste received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Patricio Costa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 27th minute Silverio Tuste shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silverio Tuste went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Silverio Tuste might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silverio Tuste ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silverio Tuste, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 36 minutes into the game, Jose Correa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newells Old Boys the free kick. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Silverio Tuste blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Newells Old Boys had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
