Enrique Cristofor could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. After having played for 5 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Loco Cabezon's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leonides Galtero came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Loco Cabezon's Esteve Perico got a free kick in the 10th minute. Leonides Galtero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Loco Cabezon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anastasio Mendebal didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leonides Galtero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Leonides Galtero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luis Andino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leonides Galtero read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Leonides Galtero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of play. 43 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leonides Galtero made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Enrique Cristofor made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonides Galtero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Leonides Galtero was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 53 minute of play. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Jose Eleder took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 62nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Rogelio Abajas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Rodolfo Ieltxu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 71st minute. A collision led to Loco Cabezon getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Albano Alvarez hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 81st minute. In the 83rd minute Rogelio Abajas suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. Primitivo Andino charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Primitivo Andino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Loco Cabezon's Cristian Atauri was substituted for Rogelio Abajas. With a little luck, Loco Cabezon's Leonides Galtero got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Atauri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
