Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Puch in the 27th minute of play. After 29 minutes of play, Lanús's Roberto Puch made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Manuel Neuer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manuel Neuer. Lanús's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. With a little luck, Lanús's Manuel Neuer got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roberto Puch, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roberto Puch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Lanús's Eloy Gaskon was substituted for Roberto Puch. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Gaskon in the 58th minute of play. Manuel Neuer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Montenegro in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manuel Neuer saved Lanús from getting behind. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 63th minute after Lanús's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Manuel Neuer in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 65th minute, Daniel Zorita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 66th minute Eloy Gaskon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 68 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Eloy Gaskon came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Lanús's Eloy Gaskon slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-3 after 80 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eloy Gaskon in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eloy Gaskon's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 85thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Lanús's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jake Hursey in the 86th minute. Jake Hursey made a great header on Lanús's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. 90 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Jake Hursey came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
