The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Téo Campidelis in the 8th minute of play. When Wincent Wydrych fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s protests and gave Wincent Wydrych a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Rua Ferreira Viana F.C. getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Wincent Wydrych hit a great ball. 10 minutes into the match, Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Tomé Oliveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Tomé Oliveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. 22 minutes into the match, Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Tomé Oliveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Tomé Oliveira in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 30 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Botelho came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 38thth minute got Tomé Oliveira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Magno Nunes to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Magno Nunes got free with Julio Vera in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s goalkeeper Tomé Oliveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 58th minute Caco Guimarães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomé Oliveira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tomé Oliveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 61st minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 72 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomé Oliveira. Tomé Oliveira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Thanks to some nice moves Magno Nunes could shoot a difficult shot in the 76th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Téo Campidelis tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 81st minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magno Nunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. After having played for 86 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Rua Ferreira Viana F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Téo Campidelis didn't get a good kick on the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ecuador fully deserved thier win.
