The referee felt a red card was in order, 3 minutes into the game, when Luca Rouco put in a rough tackle. 3 minutes into the game, one of Mexico:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rômulo Negri in the 8th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fausto da Rocha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 15th minute. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 16th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rômulo Negri in the 18th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Facundo Cadaval came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Facundo Cadaval couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rômulo Negri in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the match, AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Fausto da Rocha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. It was a well-played corner which Luca Zorita managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Leonardo Leoz hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Fausto da Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute Rômulo Negri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After having played for 52 minutes, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Mancebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 55 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rômulo Negri. Fausto da Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rômulo Negri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Fausto da Rocha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. AFC - Curitiba's Fausto da Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 73rd minute of play. A hard shot 75 in the game by Rômulo Negri from a close distance when the talented Dante Lacasa managed to make a qualified save. Mexico's players were relieved. Dante Lacasa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rômulo Negri showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 77 minute of play. Lucjan Setara kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. If Matouš Carda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fausto da Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 90th minute of the match. Fausto da Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 92nd minute of play. Joel Gaona made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that AFC - Curitiba's Fausto da Rocha managed to reach the ball for a save. When the final whistle went the supporters of AFC - Curitiba were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Mexico side.
