Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Costa Rica's Axel Tasis started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Feodor Hecht fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Berthold Rieger in the 6th minute of the match. Oliver Numberger hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. In the 22nd minute of the match Hugo Ferrant sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Klaus Schultz skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in THB Herrenalb's zone, Axel Tasis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Klaus Schultz came out of the goal and Axel Tasis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute, Axel Tasis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bernhard Bach went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Feodor Hecht to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Lautaro Puig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klaus Schultz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the THB Herrenalb defense, Eliseo Noboa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Klaus Schultz. The THB Herrenalb fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Klaus Schultz should have stopped the shot. Klaus Schultz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Tasis's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. In the 69th minute Lautaro Puig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klaus Schultz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 71 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Klaus Schultz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 74 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. After 76 minutes, Efrain Moruga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the THB Herrenalb players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 77th minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jürgen Eckert in the 79th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 81st minute of play forced THB Herrenalb's goalkeeper Klaus Schultz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Axel Tasis scored 3-2 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Klaus Schultz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feodor Hecht in the 92nd minute of play.
