In the 5th minute, Kraig Fred reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jax Williamson. The goal made the score 1-0. Jan Dixon might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcos Ranolfo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jan Dixon ran back to his position shaking his head. 12 minutes into the match, Jan Dixon notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Estudiantes de América's Marcos Ranolfo. Marcos Ranolfo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canada's goalkeeper Jax Williamson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 25th minute Koby Wright shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Ranolfo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Estudiantes de América defense, Koby Wright kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Ranolfo. The Estudiantes de América fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Ranolfo should have stopped the shot. After having played for 30 minutes, Kraig Fred managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Estudiantes de América's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kraig Fred was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcos Ranolfo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carter George, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jax Williamson was a little too slow when Kraig Fred got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 2-2. Rohan Watson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcos Ranolfo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Jax Williamson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kraig Fred in the 38th minute of play. The supporters of Estudiantes de América booed when Canada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Mccarthy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kraig Fred to strike the kick off in the second half. Luka Harris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Marcos Ranolfo made a huge save. When Maximo Dei fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Estudiantes de América's protests and gave Maximo Dei a yellow card for diving instead. In the 52nd match minute, Estudiantes de América was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximo Dei to maneuver through the defense. Estudiantes de América's Marcos Ranolfo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Koby Wright in the 54th minute of play. Jax Williamson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kraig Fred in the 58th minute of the match. Canada's Luka Harris managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Kraig Fred in the 59 minute of the game. Through an outstanding action, after 60 minutes, Marcos Ranolfo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marcos Ranolfo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rohan Watson, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 67th minute Koby Wright shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Ranolfo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Estudiantes de América's supporters rose to their feet, but Kraig Fred was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Canada's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Filip Edwards sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Filip Edwards received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marcos Ranolfo came out and tried to block the shot, but Filip Edwards slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 89th minute. Luka Harris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Marcos Ranolfo made a huge save. Estudiantes de América's supporters rose to their feet, but Korneliusz Miodek was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. When the match was over Canada could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Estudiantes de América throughout the match.
