Pedro Manzanares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 6 minutes into the game, Antonio Indiano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Colombia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Várzea F.C. the free kick. Antonio Indiano hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 8th minute, Axel Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Carlos Augusto Quintal. Várzea F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 12th minute of the match Várzea F.C. got a corner. Colombia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz Eduardo Alcântara ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Várzea F.C.'s Aloísio Secco getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Sarmiento in the 14th minute of play. Pedro Manzanares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jude Monkhouse's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Kevin Mastache fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Augusto Quintal having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Jude Monkhouse had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jude Monkhouse was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Jude Monkhouse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Manzanares having to interfere. Jude Monkhouse blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Manzanares having to make a save. In the 35th minute Jude Monkhouse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jude Monkhouse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jude Monkhouse might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Manzanares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jude Monkhouse ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 39th minute Jude Monkhouse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joshua Garrido made in the 40th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Santino Seco however managed to control. After 44 minutes of play, Várzea F.C.'s Jude Monkhouse made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Manzanares was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Várzea F.C. booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orlando Tafalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abram Sarmiento was the one to do the kick off. Carlos Augusto Quintal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s Jude Monkhouse sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Manzanares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 55th match minute, Várzea F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Roberto to maneuver through the defense. Colombia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 57th minute, when Jude Monkhouse scored to the left of an out of position Pedro Manzanares, making the score, 2-4. Antonio Indiano got his second yellow card in the match during the 62nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Colombia's Antonio Indiano got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Jude Monkhouse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 71 minutes into the match, Várzea F.C.'s Jude Monkhouse sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Manzanares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Jude Monkhouse made a precise shot to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5. Várzea F.C. made a substitution. Dé Montenegro replaced Jude Monkhouse. Várzea F.C.'s Daniel Isăceanu was substituted for João Francisco Tande. Colombia made a substitution. Ignacio Mastache replaced Abram Sarmiento. After a defensive mix-up in Colombia's zone, Dé Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Dé Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dé Montenegro in the 83rd minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dé Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Manzanares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Várzea F.C. were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Colombia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luiz Eduardo Alcântara took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Luiz Eduardo Alcântara got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pedro Manzanares quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Pedro Manzanares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dé Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. In the 91st minute Várzea F.C. were awarded a corner. Luiz Eduardo Alcântara went to the cornerflag to take it. Várzea F.C.'s Luiz Eduardo Alcântara was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pedro Manzanares in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 95th minute, Dé Montenegro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Várzea F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-6. The Colombia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Várzea F.C. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
