In the 7th minute Caco Guimarães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomé Oliveira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Cristian Sancho could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Tomé Oliveira however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Rua Ferreira Viana F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Botelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Magno Nunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 24 minutes Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Sandro Alvarenga thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Tomé Oliveira, a very annoying self made goal in the 24th minute which led to 1-0. 27 minutes into the match, Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s goalkeeper Tomé Oliveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. At last the ball reached Luis Andino at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.. 2-0. Tomé Oliveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonio Arias, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tomé Oliveira in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s Donato Botelho got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alfredinho Faria kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Tomé Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Magno Nunes made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Tomé Oliveira. Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomé Oliveira came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 60th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caco Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Tomé Oliveira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Agustín Saelices's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. In the 68th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Oliveira having to interfere. After 77 minutes Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s Tomé Oliveira managed to reach the ball for a save. Through an outstanding action, after 79 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Rua Ferreira Viana F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredinho Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tomé Oliveira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. There was no doubt that Ecuador were the better team. Ecuador's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
