Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 36th minute of play. Stefanos Terzopoulos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Thiago Pliego made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when İbrahim Volkan sent off a good shot on target. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Damian Maftei made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Damian Maftei stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat.
