In the 7th minute Luca Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cãlin Damaschin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But to his dismay, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, CERRO PORTEÑO's Paulo Maldini got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Cãlin Damaschin made a huge save. Lorenzo Cazalla kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Dante Lacasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

A sloppy throw-in by Leonardo Leoz in the 52nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by CERRO PORTEÑO's Eusebiu Cimpoi. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Leonardo Leoz got a free kick in the 54th minute. CERRO PORTEÑO were awarded a corner in the 63th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Alan Paredes took the corner. In the 67th minute, Lautaro Mancebo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cãlin Damaschin was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 72nd minute, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. The supporters of Mexico booed when CERRO PORTEÑO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Velasco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cãlin Damaschin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 77th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Dante Lacasa. Cãlin Damaschin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 83rd minute of the match. CERRO PORTEÑO's attentive Eusebiu Cimpoi managed to snatch the ball when Leonardo Leoz made a throw-in in the 86th minute of the game. In the 88th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cãlin Damaschin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Luca Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cãlin Damaschin having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. CERRO PORTEÑO had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
