The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Montes Quevedo was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Kenneth Heise could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aurelio Rivas's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. In the 19th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Montes Quevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ecuador's Daniel Zorita in 23 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Montes Quevedo guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After some careless play in the Fetiyerd defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Montes Quevedo. The Fetiyerd fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Montes Quevedo should have stopped the shot. 32 minutes into the match, Fetiyerd's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Montes Quevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Severiano Rua sent off a good shot on target. Montes Quevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aurelio Rivas in the 44th minute. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fetiyerd's Montes Quevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. When Aurelio Rivas came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Fetiyerd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aurelio Rivas couldn't finish the play. If Aurelio Rivas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Fetiyerd getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Kenneth Heise hit a great ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aurelio Rivas in the 66th minute of play. Severiano Rua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 75 minutes into the match, Fetiyerd's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Montes Quevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severiano Rua, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. The Ecuador players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Fetiyerd from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
