Abel Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, AKD's Timoteo Colon broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 20 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celso Porfirio. In the 20th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Moruga to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Porfirio in the 22nd minute of the match. Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Hugo Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 29 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abel Garaona. The crowd rose to their feet as AKD's Abel Garaona slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benito Sanz. That made the score 2-0 after 29 minutes of play. When Lautaro Puig fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Lautaro Puig a yellow card for diving instead. Thanks to some nice moves Celso Porfirio could shoot a difficult shot in the 33rd minute, which Benito Sanz however easily saved by the left post. AKD's Melchor Admon quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hugo Ferrant, made in the 42nd minute of the game. When Eliseo Noboa came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseo Noboa couldn't finish the play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Celso Porfirio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Aquilino Faron's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aquilino Faron helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Costa Rica fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 56th minute. Penalty! Abel Garaona took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball. Fausto Dalmai took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. After 79 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Porfirio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celso Porfirio, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Porfirio in the 88th minute of the match. In the 90th minute, Celso Porfirio left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AKD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1.
