Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Joar Scheie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 5th minute of the match. After some careless play in the CAN ERZURUM defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joar Scheie. The CAN ERZURUM fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joar Scheie should have stopped the shot. 15 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sven-Olof Vestlund. Anthony Alvarado hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arda Turan got free with Rolando Noboa in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joar Scheie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 23rd minute of play forced CAN ERZURUM's goalkeeper Joar Scheie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joar Scheie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 32nd minute, Julian Murillo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Peru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Joar Scheie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Murillo was the one to do the kick off. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Olof Vestlund in the 73rd minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Olof Vestlund in the 79th minute of the match. With a little luck, CAN ERZURUM's Joar Scheie got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. CAN ERZURUM's Joar Scheie proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save CAN ERZURUM from getting a goal against them. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. The supporters of Peru booed when CAN ERZURUM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Zanetti didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, CAN ERZURUM's Joar Scheie got control of the ball when Antonio Tenorio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Milagros Fraga blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joar Scheie having to make a save. When the final whistle sounded Peru left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than CAN ERZURUM.
