The crowd rose to their feet as Niğde FK's Güral Canay slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benito Sanz. That made the score 3-0 after 28 minutes of play. 34 minutes into the match, Brian Fitzpatrick had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brian Fitzpatrick was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. In the 39th minute Güral Canay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Brian Fitzpatrick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alan Moruga charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 57 played minutes, Niğde FK's Hami Öktüre shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Niğde FK reached it. Güral Canay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mehmet Akdoğu came out and tried to block the shot, but Eliseo Noboa slotted it home off the left post making it 5-1 in the 66th minute. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Abel Carballo hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Brian Fitzpatrick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Niğde FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Brian Fitzpatrick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Brian Fitzpatrick scored 6-1 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
