Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Vila Nova FC's Fiori Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 15th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fiori Mota narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mete Nared received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vila Nova FC's Luca Postelnicescu managed to work through Peru's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal.
