Roman Gdaniec blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. 8 minutes had been played when some careless play by Girona FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. 14 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lastur Murcia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Berkay Yetiş tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lastur Murcia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Julian Murillo went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 24 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Berkay Yetiş. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Peru's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Iván Salgado was slow to take the kick. During this time Girona FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Girona FC's Iván Salgado to fire away a dangerous shot which Rolando Noboa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Lastur Murcia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A sloppy throw-in by José Gonçalves in the 30th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Alonso Berganza. After a rather tough play, Peru's Alonso Berganza got a free kick in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Girona FC's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lastur Murcia came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 47 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lastur Murcia narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Girona FC made a substitution. David Palau replaced Roman Gdaniec. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lastur Murcia saved Girona FC from getting behind. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Berkay Yetiş, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Lastur Murcia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Murillo in the 62nd minute. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Palau in the 71st minute of play. Girona FC made a substitution. Alfonso De Pedro replaced Berkay Yetiş. After 73 minutes Peru's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Iván Salgado who took care of the corner kick. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Joaquim Lustosa made a throw-in in the 80th minute of the game. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Julian Murillo in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Lastur Murcia, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Girona FC's Ovidio Maldonado got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Ovidio Maldonado kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 86th minute of the game. One of Girona FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Peru:s goal. When the match had been going on for 87 minutes, Peru's Eliseo Mina got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Lastur Murcia. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Girona FC's goalkeeper Lastur Murcia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lastur Murcia was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rafael Gallo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 94 minute of play. With an all-out effort, Peru's Lastur Murcia threw himself towards the right post 98 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rafael Gallo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The Girona FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Peru's performance. The match ended with a win for Peru.
