A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Alex Cambeiro hit a great ball. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Emanuel Puișoru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 36th minute of play forced F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s goalkeeper Emanuel Puișoru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Tomas Berganza came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Berganza couldn't finish the play. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Barros Schelloto in the 47th minute of play.

Emanuel Puișoru was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
