Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 10 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Floresta Club U18 the free kick. After 10 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Lautaro Puig. Gilmar Castro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 16th minute Tomé Reis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Douglas de Souza came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th minute, Tomé Reis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomé Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilmar Castro in the 37th minute of play. Ruy da Rocha made a great header on Floresta Club U18's corner, it was just that Costa Rica's Benito Sanz managed to reach the ball for a save. After 39 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Douglas de Souza in the 40th minute of the match. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Douglas de Souza went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Douglas de Souza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Floresta Club U18 were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Costa Rica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ruy da Rocha took the corner. Gilmar Castro was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Floresta Club U18's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 59th minute, Costa Rica's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Douglas de Souza fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Douglas de Souza did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-7 to the left of a surprised Benito Sanz 61 minutes into the match. If Gilmar Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 65 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa. 66 minutes into the game, one of Costa Rica:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 69th minute there was a penalty for Floresta Club U18. Douglas de Souza stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Benito Sanz. 0-8. Endrik Edmundo kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Douglas de Souza in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Douglas de Souza in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hugo Ferrant kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Hugo Ferrant hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 91st minute, Floresta Club U18's Vito Maia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-9. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. After 98 played minutes, Floresta Club U18's Ruy da Rocha shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Floresta Club U18 reached it. Floresta Club U18 played a much better game than Costa Rica and deserved their victory. The Costa Rica players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
