A hard shot 13 in the game by Christiaan Schipper from a close distance when the talented Benito Sanz managed to make a qualified save. Costa Rica's players were relieved. The audience was convinced that Kevin Arnolds's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. In the 20th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kevin Arnolds blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Bierunese's Donato Alvarez got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

A collision led to Bierunese getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Baldomiro Clementi hit a great ball. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Baldomiro Clementi went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Bierunese was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Alvarez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65thth minute of the game Kevin Arnolds who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Baldomiro Clementi went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Baldomiro Clementi struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bierunese. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Arnolds, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kevin Arnolds in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. The Bierunese fans' excitement grew in the 80th match minute when Bierunese's Kevin Arnolds looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Arnolds in the 83rd minute of play. When Bierunese's Kevin Arnolds in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
