Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 2 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Sören Bengtsson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Beltran, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 4th minute, Isidoro Beltran ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. When Daniel Zorita, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 13 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Pepe Santoro was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Pepe Santoro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 19 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Jorg Pieters received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Jorg Pieters kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 3-0 in the 22 minute of play. In the 27th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepe Santoro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe Roldan kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Sören Bengtsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sören Bengtsson ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Albano Bertol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Albano Bertol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felipe Roldan hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Sören Bengtsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere.

51 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Beltran came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Montenegros short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Pepe Santoro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Independiente's Pepe Santoro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 62nd minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Santoro having to interfere. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Isidoro Beltran's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. Pepe Santoro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 75th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorg Pieters in the 82nd minute of play. In the 88th minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Pepe Santoro. Pepe Santoro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-1. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Santoro having to interfere. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Independiente's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
