But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Mirolyub Dragoychev got a free kick in the 28th minute. Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Krum Nikolchov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 30th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Yulian Florov managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lokomotiv Plovdiv's supporters rose to their feet, but Yulian Florov was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 34 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Cazalla. After a rather tough play, Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Yulian Florov got a free kick in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 44th minute of play forced Lokomotiv Plovdiv's goalkeeper Krum Nikolchov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sven Brask stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Krum Nikolchov made a huge save. Joel Gaona made a great header on Mexico's corner, it was just that Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Krum Nikolchov managed to reach the ball for a save. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zdzislaw Obuchowicz in the 81st minute of play. In the 87th minute of the match, Joel Gaona tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Krum Nikolchov saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After 90 minutes of play, Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Facundo Nazario made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Lacasa was left in no man's land by his defense there! 93 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Mirolyub Dragoychev came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lokomotiv Plovdiv's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
