After recieving a nice pass, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas tried to score from far away in the 26th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Elia Pietrantoni received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Fausto Pinti stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Fausto Pinti tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elia Pietrantoni in the 36th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Damiano Battisti was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. When Antonello Tofani fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Eurospeed Asti's protests and gave Antonello Tofani a yellow card for diving instead. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fausto Pinti was the one to do the kick off. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant Irø, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Jose Berdoi made in the 76th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Antonello Tofani immediately put the ball in play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damiano Battisti prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 80 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Eurospeed Asti had played much better football throughout.
