Petruț Dicu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 14th minute of play forced Exército Português's goalkeeper Petruț Dicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Soveral in the 16th minute of the match. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petruț Dicu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Exército Português's Petruț Dicu got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Soveral in the 46th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mariano Lacasa was the one to do the kick off. Petruț Dicu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 53rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Bruno Soveral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Exército Português's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruno Soveral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thiago Pliego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 83 minutes into the game, Chile's Orlando Casaus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Petruț Dicu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petruț Dicu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 90th minute of play forced Exército Português's goalkeeper Petruț Dicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Exército Português's Robert Przybylski got a free kick in the 91st minute. Chile's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
