Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 13 minutes into the game, David Frisck cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mark Stenman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gino Tonić struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. After 30 minutes, Mark Stenman made it 1-5 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isac Jansson in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute Karl-Oskar Eriksson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Karl-Oskar Eriksson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. 37 minutes into the match, Gino Tonić had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gino Tonić was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mark Stenman in the 45th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 55th minute. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl-Oskar Eriksson in the 57th minute of play. Dennis Josefsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lautaro Puig went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-7 was the resulting score. Mark Stenman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 72nd minute, Abel Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Leonardo Hedlund sent off a good shot on target. When the match was over Lillbo BK could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Costa Rica throughout the match.
