El Salvador's Marco Tamayo got his second yellow card of the match in the 20th minute. The referee ordered Marco Tamayo off the ground. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Marco Tamayo got a free kick in the 21st minute. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Gerardo Gasteiz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. Gerardo Gasteiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 27 minutes into the match, Abram Luque dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Guaberto Isaio, 1-1. Abram Luque succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 31st playminute. When Moises Fernandino came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the El Salvador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moises Fernandino couldn't finish the play. 37 minutes into the match, Moises Fernandino dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Guaberto Isaio, 3-1. After 41 played minutes Los Laguneros de AT got a freekick which was hit by Tota Fabri. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Moises Fernandino managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Salvador's supporters rose to their feet, but Moises Fernandino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guaberto Isaio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The wind increased when Moises Fernandino made the kick off in the second half. In the 71st minute, Gerardo Gasteiz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Zorita was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. Moises Fernandino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guaberto Isaio having to interfere.
