When Jo-Wilfried Schouten came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Dragons AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jo-Wilfried Schouten couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Dragons AFC's Melquiades Lico got a free kick in the 16th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Jo-Wilfried Schouten stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Jo-Wilfried Schouten tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 27th minute, Jo-Wilfried Schouten hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Prime Hock in the 35th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Dragons AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Lorenzo Beckman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dragons AFC made a substitution. Nicasio Gomesano replaced Natalio Eneto. Alex Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. After having played for 45 minutes, Prime Hock managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dragons AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Prime Hock was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jo-Wilfried Schouten in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Lorenzo Beckman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Melquiades Lico, made in the 88th minute of the game. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jo-Wilfried Schouten in the 90th minute of play.
